Cost Guide
What a kitchen remodel costs in Erie.
Not national averages — ranges grounded in what Erie County contractors actually charge, updated October 2026. Every kitchen is different; treat these as honest starting points, not quotes.
| Scope | Erie range | What that buys |
|---|---|---|
| Refresh | $8,000 – $18,000 | Paint or refinish cabinets, new hardware, new faucet and lighting, minor countertop repair. Same layout, new life. |
| Mid-range remodel | $25,000 – $55,000 | Semi-custom cabinets, stone counters, new appliances, updated lighting and flooring. The Erie sweet spot. |
| Full custom | $65,000 – $140,000+ | Custom cabinetry, layout changes, structural work, premium surfaces and appliances throughout. |
Ranges assume a typical 120–200 sq ft Erie kitchen. Older homes (pre-1960, common here) can add electrical and plumbing surprises — budget 10–15% contingency.
Where the money goes.
Cabinets are roughly a third to half of every mid-range budget — they're the biggest lever you have. Labor is next. The small things that punch above their weight: a solid brass faucet, good lighting, and hardware with some heft. Under $500 total, and guests will assume you spent ten times that.
